The Live Monitoring model involves a human proctor who monitors candidates in real-time during a test to ensure they do not cheat. A proctor’s role is to verify the identity of the candidate, monitor their surroundings, and detect any suspicious behavior during the test. With the increasing trend of online education and remote tests, the live monitoring process has become an important tool for maintaining the integrity of the assessment process. All this is done with the help of artificial intelligence which notifies proctors of any violations it can detect.
The check-in process is a significant step in Live Monitoring during tests. Before the session begins, the
proctor will pause the session for all candidates. Once candidates access the test, they will be redirected
to a screen that informs them that the check-in process is in progress. During the check-in process, the
proctor verifies the identity of the candidate and ensures that their environment is suitable for taking the
test.
The proctor verifies the identity of each candidate by checking their government-issued ID or other
approved forms of identification. They also inspect the candidate’s surroundings to ensure that there are no
unauthorized materials or persons present. The check-in process typically takes only a few minutes, after
which the candidates start the test.
Proctor can monitor up to 16 candidates simultaneously. During monitoring, the proctor has several options for interacting with the candidate:
In Live Monitoring during tests, the use of AI-based technology can be very helpful to the proctor in maintaining the integrity of the assessment process. The AI can assist the proctor by automatically detecting violations and providing real-time alerts.
The AI is designed to detect violations that occur during the test, such as opening a new tab, not looking directly at the screen, or being out of the camera’s view. When the AI detects a violation, it automatically sends an alert to the proctor, who can then investigate the situation and take appropriate action.
The real-time alerts provided by the AI enable the proctor to intervene quickly and prevent any potential cheating from occurring. For example, if the AI detects that a candidate has opened a new tab, the proctor can immediately investigate the situation and ask the candidate to close the tab. If the system detects that the candidate is not looking directly at the screen, the proctor can remind the candidate of the test rules and ask them to maintain proper eye contact with the screen.
By utilizing Automated technology, the system itself records and monitors test attempts using behavioral trackers. Once the exam is finished, the system generates a credibility report and stores the exam footage for the optional subsequent human validation and review.
Our Automated analysis program is an industry-leading solution that ensures the highest level of test integrity by detecting and flagging a wide range of suspicious behaviors. With YouTestMe, you can rest assured that every test is monitored closely and thoroughly to prevent cheating and ensure the accuracy of results.
YouTestMe’s Automated proctoring is able to detect and flag the following types of suspicious behavior:
Our video recording system generates a recording of the test session automatically and makes it available immediately after the test is complete. Therefore, there is no waiting time for accessing the video recording, and our clients can access it as soon as they need it.
To ensure the highest level of test integrity, YouTestMe has implemented a thorough post-test audit process. The audit process consists of the following steps:
1. Video recording : The test session of each candidate is automatically recorded and stored for later review. These recordings can be accessed and reviewed until the client decides to delete them.
2. Credibility report : Immediately after the test, our system generates a credibility report. This report shows the distribution of events and violations committed by the candidate during the test. The report is presented on a graph, providing an easy-to-understand visual representation of the candidate's behavior.
3. Proctor report : Our human proctor also generates a report during the test, which includes three main sections:
You can monitor candidates' environment as if on-site: Candidates can connect a mobile device for a 360° view during their test and view a room and workspace before.
How does it work?
To enhance monitoring during proctored tests, administrators may request candidates to incorporate an extra camera, such as a smartphone camera. This offers a wider perspective of the test-taker's environment, enhancing the integrity of the examination.
To connect the smartphone camera, candidates follow a simple process. They scan the QR code displayed on their computer screen using their phone's camera. Once scanned, they open the link generated by the QR code in their phone's browser. A confirmation message, "Camera successfully connected," assures candidates of the successful connection.
On Android devices, candidates can use either the standard "Camera" app or the "QR & Barcode Scanner" app to scan the QR code. After scanning, they copy the generated link and open it in the Google Chrome browser. In contrast, iOS users utilize the standard camera app to scan the QR code and then open the resulting link in the Safari browser.
Mobile platforms do not support screen capture capabilities. Phone and tablet browsers lack an API for screen recording, so users cannot take videos or photos of their screens. However, the metrics still function. For instance, if a browser tab is opened, it triggers events b1, b2, and b3.
