This article will explain how to use test sections to set up mandatory competencies on exams.
Accessing the page #
To access the page:
- Select the Tests/Manage tests tab.
- Select the New test button. Please visit this article for more information on creating a test with sections.
- Go to the 4th step of the Test creation wizard and define the grading configuration for sections. You can customize grading for each test section.
- Set individual section passing marks.
- By selecting the Inclusive passing mark option, candidates can pass a section if they score equal to or higher than the section passing mark.
- Selecting the Passing mark required option, candidates must pass the section to pass the whole test. If they don’t meet the required score in a section, they fail that part, leading to an overall test failure.
- Assign specific grading scales to represent section results as grades.
Additionally, you can adjust the grading settings at any time from the Tests/Manage tests/Grading configuration tab.

Note: It is recommended that one competency represents one question pool, and one question pool is used for creating one test section.
