This article outlines the distinction between single and multiple-choice questions.
The primary difference lies in how candidates respond. Single-choice questions permit candidates to select only one answer, whereas multiple-choice questions allow them to choose one or more correct answers.
- For detailed instructions on creating multiple-choice questions, check this out.
- As for single-choice, this could be helpful.
Options available only for multiple-choice questions
Multiple-choice questions also offer additional options not available for single-choice questions:
- Answer Generator: This functionality enables you to specify the proportion of correct and incorrect answers that will be presented randomly within the test.
- By the combination of answers grading method: With this feature, you can specify a correct combination of answers to evaluate the question, rather than grading each answer individually.
Creating a question with the Answer Generator
To enable the answer generator, follow the steps below:
- Enter the question text in the Create New Question dialog, define the correct answers, and enable the Answer Generator option.
- Define the number of correct and incorrect answers that will be displayed in the test.
- Once you have finished setting the question, click the Save button to save it.
Creating a question with the By Combination of Answers Scoring Method
To create a multiple-choice question using the By Combination of Answers scoring method, follow the steps below:
- In the Create New Question dialog, navigate to the Grading and Duration Settings section. From the scoring method dropdown menu, choose By Combination of Answers.
- Click the Add Combination button.
- In the combination of answers dialog, specify the weight of the combination.
- Choose the answers to form the combination by using the + button.
- Click the Save button to include the created combination in the list of combinations.
Example:
- Create a multiple-choice question with five answers.
- Select the scoring method By Combination of Answers.
- Limit the user to selecting only three answers.
- Create a combination carrying 4 points, specifying three correct answers.
- Establish a second combination with 2 points, requiring the selection of two correct answers.
In this example, candidates are limited to marking three correct answers.
These features empower you to create versatile multiple-choice questions tailored to your preferences.
