How to Allow Candidates to Continue the Test

This article explains how to enable candidates to resume the test in the event of an internet connection loss, accidental tab closure, and other interruptions without requiring admin approval.

Reasons for Leaving the Test #

Candidates are permitted to re-enter the test without requiring instructor intervention if they leave the test for any of the following reasons:

  1. Closing the tab.
  2. Reloading the tab.
  3. Loss of internet connection.

Note:  The instructor has visibility into when the candidate exits and returns to the test.

Allowing Candidates to Continue the Test #

  1. Navigate to the Tests panel and select the Manage tests page.
  2. Open the desired test.
  3. Access the Settings tab.

Candidates can only return to the test if the Allow test continuation option is enabled in the Pause and repeat settings tab.

Student’s Perspective
#

From a student’s perspective, having the ability to resume a test without needing admin approval in situations like a sudden internet disconnection or accidentally closing a browser tab is incredibly convenient. It reduces the stress and anxiety that can come with technical issues during a test. Students can focus on answering questions and performing to the best of their abilities, knowing that they have the flexibility to address unexpected interruptions without unnecessary obstacles.  To resume the test, the candidate should:

  1. Navigate to the Assignments panel from the left-side menu, then select the My tests page.
  2. Use the search box to locate the specific test.
  3. Click the Continue button to proceed and resume the test.

Note:  Candidates can continue the test from the exact question where the test was interrupted. During this process, all previously provided answers will be automatically saved.
